Closed: Mondays (except public holidays)

Our museum will be closed on 24, 25 and 31 December 2025 and on 1 January 2026.
We will be open as usual from 2 January 2026.

Concessions*: 3 Euro
Children and young people up to the age of 17 and schoolchildren in school groups: free

Gastronomy

The HENRICHS restaurant is located on the first floor of the gasworks. From the glass gallery, guests can enjoy impressive views of the historic hall.

Whether for lunch, an exquisite multi-course meal in the evening or simply a coffee after a visit to the museum, HENRICHS invites you to relax and enjoy culinary delights. With its Mediterranean-German cuisine, changing lunch menu and a select range of wines, cocktails and long drinks, HENRICHS is open for guests from midday onwards.

Directions

Arriving by car

A 43, Witten-Herbede exit, Blankensteiner Straße towards Hattingen;
then follow the signs for ‘Route der Industriekultur’ (Industrial Heritage Trail) and ‘LWL-Industriemuseum’ (LWL Industrial Museum).

Arriving by bus and train

S-Bahn: From Essen Central Station (Intercity stop), take line S3 (travel time approx. 19 minutes, runs every 20 minutes) to Hattingen-Mitte. Cross the footbridge to reach the bus station. From there, continue by bus (see below).

Bus: From Bochum Central Station, take bus lines 350 and SB 37 (‘Henrichshütte’).

From Hattingen Mitte (bus station), take bus lines 554 (‘Industriemuseum’), SB 38 (“Werksstraße”), 350 and SB 37 (‘Henrichshütte’)
From Witten: SB 38 (‘Werksstraße’)
From Ennepetal: SB 37 (‘Henrichshütte’)

At Hattingen-Mitte bus station, take the S-Bahn S3 towards Essen/Oberhausen.

Arriving by bicycle

You can reach Henrichshütte via the following cycle paths:

The Henrichshütte is junction 86 and part of the Industrial Heritage Cycle Route. You can find the route network and the app to download on the Ruhr Tourism website. The Henrichshütte is the starting point of the ‘From Ruhr to Ruhr’ cycle route.

Taking your dog to the museum

Dogs are allowed on a leash at the cash desk and in the outdoor area, with the exception of the playground. However, dogs are not allowed in the buildings, except for guide dogs and assistance dogs.
